Bill Gray, the Superintendent of Public Works, checked out Occupy Ithaca today (Tuesday, January 3, 2012) at about 4:15 pm. A few of us were just leaving the park to have our Communications Committee meeting in a warmer location when I recognized him and introduced ourselves to him as being from the Occupation. He seemed a bit surprised to be greeted. He responded, "Welcome!" and continued on his way to check out the encampment. We watched with some amusement as he headed up towards the Baptist Church and then turned around and came back out of the park on Buffalo Street. I have a feeling he wasn't impressed with our very civil disobedience. I imagine we will hear more from him ....
